Quantum Vacation can apply to a full-time employees under certain circumstances, such as long-term salary insurance, but primarily applies to part-time workers.

According to the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), “Quantum represents the maximum number of vacation days the employee is entitled to take, paid and not paid.”

Therefore, your Quantum vacation represents the total annual vacation days your are entitled to take. In contrast, ‘standard’ vacation is paid vacation days which you’ve worked for

Part-time and recall list employees accumulate a percentage of paid vacation time based on the number of hours worked. However, after a full year of service, a part-time employee is entitled to a minimum 4 weeks (20 days) of vacation. Your Quantum vacation is a result of this minimum.

Quebec Labour Standard amendments as of January 01, 2019, grant employees credited with three years of uninterrupted service with the same employer at the end of a reference year ending after January 1, 2019 is entitled to a minimum of three consecutive weeks of vacation, to be taken within 12 months following the end of the reference year.
