The Brazilian congressional panel investigated the country’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic and is set to recommend mass homicide charges against President Bolsonaro, and criminal charges against 69 other people. Including Bolsonaro’s three sons and numerous active and former government officials.

Excerpts from the report viewed by The New York Times ahead of its release this week allege that in an unsuccessful attempt to achieve herd immunity and revive Latin America’s largest economy, Mr. Bolsonaro intentionally let the coronavirus kill more than 300,000 Brazilians.

It is unclear whether the 11-senate member panel report will result in criminal charges. Seven-panel members are opponents of the President.

Nonetheless, the long-awaited 1,200-page report highlights the degree of rage directed at a leader who refused to take the pandemic seriously.
